events, large celebrations
uploaded some images, but some still follow in the second Part ..
As Johan's birthday in late August, I helped him in preparing for the "Chicago Style Italian Beef Sandwich" - see pictures. By late afternoon we picked up Leo at the airport, the extra from Melbourne as "Guest Instructor" flew in for tomorrow's LDN Zouk & Bachata dance night. Before
at 28.08. then went to dance, we met (Kari, Leo, Johan and I) are in the morning for eating pancakes in the city.
evening I then helped out at the reception and bar, but I got in free. Since the two dances from the Brazilian Space are, I thought all the girls would wear dresses. So I put on my extra to a summer dress - surprisingly I was the only one who thought so ... was danced all night, until your feet hurt, and even longer!
After about three to four hours of sleep, we had to get up again. Johan has notified us for 10 clock in the morning (Sunday morning after a night of dancing!) At paintball, around his birthday to celebrate with us. Fortunately the weather was wonderful - we had sunshine. So get in the car and heading north-Adelaide, where we met with 10 other friends. After we had clarified the formal, we got our equipment, Rifle and ammunition. Then we went for the whole day on the field. As long as we had ammunition, we were allowed to play. There were fortunately no time limit and the guys bought like tons of balls so that they we (the girls) at the end which charges. SARANTOS even bought a hand grenade that went off on the first throw and not attempt the second attempt, unfortunately, no one hit (SARANTOS was on my team).
then went then to Johan for the "Chicago Style Italian Beef Sandwich" and a cozy fire in the garden.
Am 30.08. went there with Max, Sonia and Brooke for sushi dinner. Have we not long done - just always had much too busy to go out together. However, This time we have made a new discovery. I know, unfortunately, the name of the sushi roll no more, but I but I took a picture ... So there I explain not sure that it tasted disgusting! (See photo)
is also today a package arrived for me from Germany - 10 kilos of clothes! Even if these are all my old clothes, it feels as if I had bought it new. After almost a year, anyway you forget what you once packed in boxes ... Many thanks again to my dear parents.
Am 05.09. I then went for the first time at a monthly event called "Sunset Salsa". meet every first Sunday of the month, Dance enthusiasts at Henley Beach in a restaurant, which is converted into a dance hall. (Have the event is unfortunately on a Sunday and most of the next day to get up early ...) As the name suggests, danced until midnight
Am 11.09. Saturday I got in my Zouk hour still a private lesson in Salsa by Johan. Kari saw us and after a short time, both told me that, apart from one or two small things on my posture to improve them is. When we got to the plane Kari (she flew to Melbourne for the weekend) brought, she said that in about 18 months would like to go abroad and that Johan should think about it, I use to succeed! Of course I was super touched.
Am 12.09. there was again Pancakes with fruit and ice cream for breakfast - I love this Sunday - before heading to Harbour Town for shopping (Outlet Centre) went. I've (again) 2 new pairs of shoes (of which is one of my dance training) and bought a few shirts. The dance shoes I then tried the same next Wednesday Salsa Lessons - spins a lot easier!
Since 06.09. I have a lot to do in the Wilderness Lodge (camp for school kids). Weekly two groups are usually booked with about 40 kids. What does that mean for me: Welcome, Teatimes preparation, breakfast, Lunch, dinner and in between entertainment for the kids as ropes and now "Scales & Tales" - a show where I am the children some reptiles (like snakes and lizards) bring closer. Of course, any such touching and stroking also. I enjoy the great fun and the children apparently also try around ... After a long
which product is best suited as bedding for our reptiles, we have apparently determined the winner. We tried Aspen (a wood product from Canada), sand, bark, magazines (flat), magazines (cut) ... but nothing was perfect. Now we use the green carpet, it seems, is this product is unbeatable! Unfortunately, that means again that we all our boxes and enclosures must be equipped new (empty, clean and carpet clean). In the course of Sonia has the same can build a new shelf system, so we now have much more space.
Am 08.09. I saw for the first time sitting (after our long winter), a Kangaroo on the roadside when I was on my way to the lodge. I stopped on the hard shoulder and tried to snap a picture, unfortunately it bounced then that!
Now it's starting spring. The days are getting longer, the sun comes up more often and also by the storms abate. Our last big storm moved in the night of 09.09. around 4:30 clock including strong Rain and heavy hail over us. The thunder woke me up, so I was awake, appeared as thunder and lightning at the same time! Scary, especially in my little tin can ...!
13/09/2010 Well, now is really one years rum! Went really fast (for me) and my life feels so normal here on, as my old in Germany (only more exciting)! If I remember my first few hours / days in AUS remember, with my schuechternen/0-8-15 English and the big-wide-world feel for Australia. Now I'm here so much experienced and seen, so I found everything normal and I about myself and my beginnings here has to smile. After a year abroad, my world is suddenly very small before and everything seems possible! Maybe one day but I am drawn again and continue in another country ... But do not worry, not too soon! : O)
Am 14.09. Alan then took Sonia, her horse over to us. She flexed a fence directly behind my caravan, so Alan graze the area. Unfortunately I made the night almost a blind eye. I felt somehow observed - even if it was just a horse, what rumlungerte outside my window (and made this weird noise) and looked through my window!
Saturday, 18.09. it was a great day - the South Australian Bachata Dance Competition was held today, who took part in the LDN team! But before the evening the competition was, "hijacked" Johan me in the morning to Windy Point Lookout. A fantastic view over the city to the sea. There was still time, before we had to get ready for competition, then it went to the Wine Centre, where we got to smell next to wine samples, a lot about the production and history. In the evening we met with others from the LDN team to prepare for the competition. While Johan's nervousness grew, I looked forward to an evening full of dancing. In the Arkaba (dancing) arrived, they played about two hours of dance music before it went off the competition. SARANTOS, Sam, Kari, and Shaun competed as a team against two other teams and Kari and Johan were dancing in the pair against two other Pairs. The competition was good but not good enough. In both areas, LDN won the title! Yippy!
The next morning we met with all members of LDN in the studio for a photo shoot. Tim (Tanzschueler and amateur photographer) tried for the first time in portraits and asked me (I mentioned that I have assisted a few photographers already), give him tips and assist in the complete Photo Shoot. Since I'm looking for photographs, but unfortunately too lazy, I'm studying my camera, I was glad to once again work together with a photographer who wanted to put my ideas into action and prevailed. The pics are fantastic, and Tim asked me about it Whether I would go with him as a photographer team to the next orders! Funny, just shows what times ... The pictures of Tim, I'll upload as soon as I get them from him. In the evening went Johan and I went to Liam, where we met some friends for game night.
Am 21.09. We (Reptile Breeding Centre) then managed a breakthrough in snake breeding. After Cane Toad the Mulga snake eradicated in the wild, tried a few breeders (including Sonia) to breed them in captivity, which had been fruitless. Even in captivity are now only half a dozen Mulgas left, and so far nobody could a "mating" reported. After four years of trial and error, We were now a "mating" of the Mulga snakes reached and only a few weeks later at 9:12 clock she started laying eggs - all in good condition. We estimated it would around 19 - 23 eggs set and checked every hour. And there were more and more and it became later and later. At 18.30 clock it was finished and we were able to record 30 eggs in a perfect condition! If any one of the babies hatched, we have achieved what no one has ever accomplished this and have thus the possibility that species' Mulga Snake "to get ...!
After I already now dares to give reptile shows, I went on 22.09. Adrian (Animals Anonymous) to a daycare, to me one of his "Australian Native wildlife shows to see. The kids were about 4 years old (we did not have much to tell), but it was super fun. So I decided to the whole very soon to give a chance ...
For about two weeks we got a new volunteer - Mel from Germany. As I understood her very well, I took it when we were at 24.09. half a day got free. The weather was spectacular - sunny, warm, blue sky - so I decided to make by Warrawong Mylor's reserve a walk, where we could watch kangaroos and cuddling close of quite a family of ducks splashing. As the day was still young and the weather promised a lot of sun, we went to Warrawong in the Gold Diggings "Walt, where are still the old mine Schaechter available.
the evening went there for the weekend back to Adelaide, since yesterday evening, a dance party was announced on the LDN dance studio - the "Bill Parton band put ballroom music, so they tell me in my childhood / youth set-back when I was a ballroom dance lessons took dancing and competitions. Gradually, I remembered back to a few dance steps and thus the night was long again ...
Saturday lunch, we went back to teaching Zouk and while I waited, started up my hour, I sat down to outside and enjoyed the sun (so many nice days in a row? Summer is really here?)
On Sunday (26.09.) I had my first "Australian Native Wildlife Show in McLaren Vale . This Mel (before she travels on) the opportunity gets a little to see from the surroundings, I took them out of hand. In Mylor (Adelaide Hills), I took off my animals. To the show belonged (source pictures = Internet): Spinifex Hopping Mice , Velvet Gecko , Sleepy Lizard , Tawny Frogmouth , Green Tree Frog , Freshwater Crocodile , Bearded Dragon , Woma Python Baby , Water Python and Squirrel Glider . After a successful appearance, we went back to Adelaide, where another birthday party waiting for me and my animals. As
me in the evening the cravings overcame by German cake, we went quickly to the ingredients-shopping and then made our jaws to the clock to 21. Johan baked a chocolate cake and an apple crumb cake I - Yummy!
Today (28.09. MO) woke me up again, the sun, so I decided to Sonia and to start the morning in the garden. We straightened table and chairs, brought out coffee and cake and enjoyed together for the first time (as we found shocked) Breakfast in the Garden ...
